DIY inexpensive wall art

It doesn`t have to cost a fortune to update the look of a room.  You can make inexpensive wall art in a few minutes usng frames you already have, or you can pick some up at a garage sale or at any craft store, don`t forget your coupons though!

These are the supplies I purchased to update three frames I have hanging over my couch.

If you haven`t ventured down the scrapbook aisle lately, you will be shocked by the varieties of paper that are available.  These are 12 by 12 sheets of paper and they start at 33 cents a piece.  The paint was 3.99 and I used a coupon.  I also used a coupon for the stencil.

Find a clean well ventilated area to set up your project.  I usually use the garage when I am working with spraypaint.  I laid my paper and stencil how I wanted it on my workspace and taped it down using painters tape.  I was carefull not to tape the paper itself, just the stencil.  Spraypaint creates a breeze when you use it, and has a tendency to shift what you are working on if it is not secure.

When you use praypaint for a stencil, you need to be sure that you hold the can about twelve inches above the project and hold the can parallel to your project so you are spraying directly down.  This will prevent the paint from leaking under the stencil.  Also, spray in short bursts.

Once your project has dried, you can remove the stencil and set up your second paper.

I set up my other papers off center so the pictures would have some variety.  I had to add some paper to protect the edges of the srapbook paper.      This is what they looked like when they dried.

Then, add the inexpensive wall art that you created to some frames and hang it up!

If you want something even easier, take architectural photos from a book.  I got these pictures out of a book that I bought for a few dollars at a library book sale.

You can even use scraps of fabric that you really like.  Art doesn`t have to cost you a lot to look fabulous.
